He's Back from Stanley

What a great year fly fishing for Steelhead in Stanley...It seems everyone caught fish this year, even those that had never tried the sport. As most of you are aware Dave doesn't really like to post fishing reports, but but alas he has....the one is from Monday April 21.

Monday as the water was turning brown-
3 anglers
16 hookups
7 fish landed

This is a non stop week...

This week has been a busy week for both Dave and I, when we're not guiding our lives are full of grandchildren, kids, and presentations for all types of events.

On Saturday March 14th we celebrated Ashtyn Bella's 2nd birthday.

Tuesday of the same week we did a presentation for Parma Aglow Lighthouse called "Fly Fishing God's Way".

Thursday you will find us presenting to the Fly Fishers of Idaho with our presentation "Seasons on the Ronde". This is one of our most popular presentations as it shows viewers all 4 seasons of fishing on the Grande Ronde River.
Saturday we will be attending the BVFF EXPO all day, at 2:30 Dave will be presenting "Advanced Steelhead Techniques" . Please stop by and visit with us if your attending the EXPO.

The Winter Steelhead on the Grande Ronde

Ah, winter steelheading...the fish are there, some are already headed upriver towards the Wallowa, some are still downriver near the Snake. The rains of this past week, has fish on the move. We managed to get into a three or four and landing one. I would think if you were there...say NOW...there will be fish to be found, throwning heavy flies with sink tips one thing for sure is you've got to get down

Ice be gone!!!

Ahem...the weather is getting a little warmer, but the ice is still on the river. We took a ride over the weekend to the Owyhee and this is what we found
Traveled the length of the river, and saw 2 nice browns rising, but when we got out of the car to look, we put them down....soon, real soon....we will be back!
